TRANSCRIPTION: JOJO MAYER "JABON" LIVE MODERN DRUMMER FESTIVAL 2005

Full transcription of the famous Jojo Mayer's performance at the Modern Drummer Festival, London, 2005, over his tune "Jabon". 

A great study for Drum'N Bass style and vocabulary. This transcription will also help you technically (push-pull technique required on the left hand) and with endurance. 

TRANSCRIPTION: VINNIE COLAIUTA "ACTUAL PROOF" SOLO

Transcription of Vinnie Colaiuta soloing over Herbie Hancock's tune "Actual Proof". This transcription is great for polyrhythms and fusion vocabulary. 

TRANSCRIPTION: LARNELL LEWIS OVER "LINGUS" 

Transcription of Larnell Lewis comping the famous "Lingus" solo improvised by the organ legend Cory Henry. Great practice for up tempo grooves, independence, and a mix between Gospel, Funk, and Latin vocabulary. 

TRANSCRIPTION: DAVE GROHL "PLAY" (full transcription)

This is a 30 pages book with the entire drum transcription of the album "Play" composed and performed by Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters). "Play" is a suite imagined in 3 parts, played with 3 different drumkits. Dave Grohl's performance is absolutely astonishing in it. This book is great to study his vocabulary, his sense of construction, get into his sound and ideas. "Play" is a legendary album for rock drumming. 

TRANSCRIPTION: MARIO DUPLANTIER "DRUM SOLO 2019" 

Full transcription of Gojira's drummer Mario Duplantier playing a studio version of his drum solo 2019. This is a great practice for rock/metal vocabulary, and a great example of a very well architected modern drum solo. Mario Duplantier is one of today's top metal drummer.

This is an entire book with 50 transcriptions of Gojira's drummer Mario Duplantier. 24 pages. This includes grooves, fills, Gojira's songs excerpts, and solo ideas by Mario. Bonus: different practice exercises that Mario posted  over the years. Amazing resources for any rock/metal drummer !

Transcription of Eric Harland comping for pianist Taylor Eigsti on his solo over the famous song"Caravan". A great study for Afro-Cuban drum set and modern swing vocabulary. 

TRANSCRIPTION: ERIC HARLAND OVER "ISABELLA MEETS WALLY"

Transcription of Eric Harland comping for pianist Aaron Goldberg over his song "Isabella Meets Wally'. This is a great example of how to accompany over a medium-swing Blues form. The transcription goes up to the bass solo at 2:50.

TRANSCRIPTION: TONY WILLIAMS ON "FOOTPRINTS"

Full transcription of Tony Williams playing over the famous "Footprints" by Miles Davis and his second quintet. Great for jazz vocabulary, comping ideas, and polyrhythms. Here Tony switches freely from 4/4 swing to different 12/8 correlatives, creating a unique and innovative interaction with the band members Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Ron Carter. A must to study!

TRANSCRIPTION: TONY WILLIAMS ON "NEFERTITI" 

Full transcription of the track "Nefertiti"recorded by Miles Davis and his second quintet. This tune is a repeated theme by the band, where Miles Davis asked the young drummer Tony WIlliams to freely improvise, and let his imagination run over the steady melody. The genius of drums created then an iconic drum track.

TRANSCRIPTION: TONY WILLIAMS ON "SO WHAT" 

This is a comping transcription of Tony Williams playing "So What" with the Miles Davis' second great Quintet, recorded Live at the Philharmonic Hall of Lincoln Center, New York City, NY on February 12, 1964. The transcription goes up to the sax solo around 3:00 in the recording. This is some of the best to study Tony's fire accompaniment and vocabulary.

TRANSCRIPTION: ROY HAYNES ON "MATRIX"

Full transcription of Roy Haynes comping and soloing with Chick Corea and Miroslav Vitous on the blues "Matrix". Great comping for the piano virtuoso and an excellent example of trading blues form.
